DRIVING

DRIVING

Cyberpunk 2077 features a native auto-driving mode called AutoDrive, introduced in update 2.3. To use it, set a destination on the map, then press and hold the specified button (H on PC, Left Stick on consoles) while in a vehicle on a road to activate the feature. The system will then navigate you to your destination, though it’s disabled during combat or with heavily damaged vehicles. You can also activate a cinematic camera while AutoDrive is active by holding Q (PC) or D-Pad Right (consoles).

Tips for driving manually:

  • Use a Controller: Driving with a controller is generally considered a much better experience than keyboard and mouse, which can make steering awkward.
  • Adjust Steering Sensitivity: Lowering the steering sensitivity from the default 100% to around 50% will make steering less jerky and give you more control, especially in squirly cars.
  • Drive at Moderate Speeds: Driving too fast will cause cars to fishtail, making it difficult to control and turn.
  • Gentle Steering Inputs: For sharp turns, tap the steering keys quickly instead of holding them down.

This video gives some further tips and explains how to adjust steering sensitivity in Cyberpunk 2077:

Vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077

There are around 40-50 unique, player-obtainable vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077, including cars and bikes, with numerous variations and models available from 12 original manufacturers and 2 real-world manufacturers. You can acquire these vehicles through purchasing them from Autofixer or Fixer messages, receiving them as rewards for completing missions, or finding them hidden in the city.

How to get my original car back in Act 2

To reclaim your original car in Cyberpunk 2077, you’ll need to advance the main story until the “Human Nature” quest. During this quest, you attempt to retrieve the vehicle from your starter apartment’s garage, only for it to be redirected to a parking facility after an accident. Once you complete the ensuing Delamain questline, you’ll receive a text notifying you that your car is ready for pickup.

The central part of the Delamain storyline is the quest “Epistrophy”, which is split into several smaller missions like “Epistrophy: The Glen” and “Epistrophy: Wellsprings” (seven in total). These involve tracking down rogue AI-driven Delamain cabs that have gone out of control. The graphic below shows the complete questline:

However, there are a number of different accounts on how quickly can get your original car back after the “Human Nature” quest is started. Some of the most common observations are as follows:

  • After retrieving a Delamain vehicle, you must wait a few in-game days until you receive a text message from Delamain saying your car is ready for pickup at the parking garage.
  • You only have to wait 10 actual gaming hours before receiving the said text message (no need to continue further with any the Delamain questline).
  • After receiving the text, go to the garage; if it’s not there, try calling Delamain from outside, and the icon on your map should turn from red to blue (this is considered to be a bug).

In my experience, after the accident, I instead continued by doing the Ghost Town quest. After completing this, and also completing a few side quests and gigs, I received the said text message and I was able to just call the car to my current location.

Some suggestions on acquiring free vehicles easily

After losing your initial vehicle in Cyberpunk 2077, the easiest car to acquire is likely the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech. It can be obtained very early in Act 2 with minimal effort, and it’s a significant upgrade over a basic vehicle.

Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech

  • Availability: After completing the main mission “The Heist” and the follow-up mission where your original car is wrecked.
  • How to get it:
    1. Go to Heywood and pick up the Gig: “Life’s Work,” which is given by the fixer Jake Estevez. You can complete this gig with stealth or force.
    2. After completing the gig and returning the car, wait an in-game day or two.
    3. You will receive a call from Jake Estevez. He will give you the location to pick up the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech, which you can claim for free.

The Rayfield Caliburn is also one of the easiest free cars to get, found in a cave in the Badlands after the “Ghost Town” mission; however, you must wait for it to appear in a shipping container. Alternatively, you can receive Jackie’s Arch after the main heist mission by ensuring Jackie’s remains are sent to his mother, Mama Wells, who will give you his motorcycle at a later date.

Getting the Rayfield Caliburn

  1. Complete the “Ghost Town” mission: This mission involves fighting Nash.
  2. Find the cave: After the mission, fast travel to the Sunset Motel in the Badlands and drive to the mine at the end of the U-turn road.
  3. Locate the car: Drive deep into the cave, where you’ll find a shipping container containing the Rayfield Caliburn and other items.
  4. Drive it away: Get into the car, and it becomes yours.

Getting Jackie’s Arch

  1. Ensure Jackie’s remains go to Mama Wells: After the main heist, make sure you choose to send his remains to his mother.
  2. Attend the ofrenda: In Act 2, you will receive an invitation to the ofrenda for Jackie.
  3. Receive the keys: After the ofrenda, Mama Wells will give you the keys to Jackie’s Arch, his motorcycle.

Other Free Vehicles

  • Delamain AI Car: After the main mission, if you choose to help Delamain, you will receive a vehicle from his fleet.
  • Alvarado Playboy: You can win this customized vehicle by wagering it during the “Beat on the Brat” quest in the Glen.
  • Mizutani Shion “Coyote”: This car can be earned by completing specific objectives during the “I’m In Love With My Car” quest.
