Backpack

In Cyberpunk 2077, the “backpack” is your inventory, where all your items, gear, and weapons are stored. You can access it by pressing ‘I’ on PC or the touchpad/View button on console. To increase carrying capacity, level up the Athletics skill, equip certain cyberware like Titanium Bones, or use temporary consumables. You can also store excess items in your stash, which is accessible from apartments and vehicles.

Accessing your backpack (inventory)

  • PC: Press the I key. Some players may find it more intuitive to open the map (M) and select the “Inventory” option from there.
  • Console: Press the touchpad (PlayStation) or View button (Xbox).

Increasing carrying capacity

  • Level up the Athletics skill: As you level up this skill, your carrying capacity will increase.
  • Use cyberware: Get cyberware like Titanium Bones from a Ripperdoc to permanently increase your carrying capacity.
  • Use consumables: There are consumable items that temporarily boost your carrying capacity for a limited time.

This video shows how to disassemble items in Cyberpunk 2077:

Storing items

  • Use your stash: Access your stash from any owned apartment or vehicle to store items you don’t need to carry. It’s a single, shared stash regardless of which location you use.

Other tips

  • Dismantle unwanted items: Break down weapons and gear for components to free up space.
  • Equip and compare: While the game doesn’t have a visible backpack to equip, you can compare weapons in your inventory to see which one is better for your playstyle.
  • Sell what you don’t need: Sell items you don’t plan to use to earn money.
